Three examples of digital multimedia products.
Digital multimedia is now so integrated into our lives it’s almost as important as having a shower or cleaning your teeth. Like it or not its here to stay and for the most part that’s a great thing and in the piece I want to give you three examples of digital multimedia.
Netflix

First on the list is Netflix the online streaming service of Film, Television and original programming. Catering to an international market Netflix has become a global brand.
Using visuals and recently introduced a more interactive experience with the film Bandersnatch which gives the audience options on what route in the storyline to take next. This shows how Netflix utilises audio, video and text.

Gaming

Gaming has been around since the 1970s but in recent times has expanded to become a true digital multimedia platform. Gaming uses all the key components to give the user either an in-depth experience that can last hours or 5 minutes (thanks to smartphones) whilst waiting for the bus. Music also plays a part in the Gaming Industry, at the beginning of the Millennium Playstation licensed established acts (Prodigy and The Chemical Brothers to name a couple) for the game Wipeout. This landmark event started other games companies to follow suit EA Games uses a current popular song for the yearly release of its FIFA series.
More recently Gamers have been able to social share there content onto facebook or youtube, even play live with anyone (with the same brand of console) in the world even if you don’t own the game yourself making it a multi platform experience.

Social Media

Since its creation in 2004 Facebook has led the way on social media a now-massive market which includes Instagram, Twitter and others. These platforms enable people to share their thoughts, memories, instant messaging (which is a great tool for companies to connect with potential clients), videos and even share other peoples, Artists and Musicians can also share there work some even premiere it on these platforms and gives the Artist insight and a more connected approach with their followers. And with the release of Facebook live you can watch content as it happens and comment, like and chat with friends all whilst watching the same content (see below) and this service is about to improve with Facebook Premier you’ll be able to launch the videos on Facebook Live.
